Wyre Blues 2006

John Welsh forwarded me this email from Alan Pearson.
On Saturday June 17th the biggest Blues show ever to hit the Fylde coast takes place at The Marine Hall, Fleetwood.
Presented by Alan Pearson of Towerblues the full day event features the cream of the crop from the UK and beyond.
“I’ve seen line-ups for 3 or 4 day festivals where I thought there were great acts on each day but I wished all the one’s I wanted to see were on the same day instead of being spread over the weekend. This is what I’ve aimed to do with the first Wyre Blues.” Alan said.
The result is a one day festival with not one, not two, but three headliners.
Doors open at 1.30pm and the music starts at 2.00pm with Nick Dow & Blues Roots, followed by Philadelphia born Guy Tortora and his band. The afternoon session closes with a blistering set from the Sean Webster Band “one of the brightest new talents on the scene today”
After a short break to refuel the evening starts at 7.30 with Paul Lamb & The King Snakes “simply better than the opposition – from whatever side of the Atlantic it happens to come” – Blues In Britain.
Next up is “one of the most important artists in the blues” Sherman Robertson with his band Bluesmove.
Back In The Night to close this great day will be Canvey Islands finest, Dr Feelgood “the official greatest rhythm ‘n’ blues band in the world” – Francis, Spirit of 66, Belgium.
The award winning Wyre Lounge bar will be open all day serving their usual great range of real ales and food will be available. Between set entertainment in the bar will be provided by local skiffle group The Ratcatchers.
Tickets are on sale priced £35 from The Marine Hall box office on 01253 770547, online from www.marinehall.co.uk or from Alan Pearson on 07729 309573.
