Hard evidence that the blues club scene is in decline in the US

Everything that you read indicates a decline in blues gig attendance in the US, however the post below really made me sad as I had a fabulous blues trip to Dallas and Fort Worth back in 1998 and spent time at both of these excellent jams.

If club gigs and blues jams decline leaving only blues festivals then I wonder where the new bands are going to come from. Outside the crazy rock and pop world you can’t start a band then move immediately to festivals.

I think that we too are suffering in the UK. To my eyes the age of attendees at blues clubs is getting older.

How are blues gigs in the northwest holding up against the tide of alternative entertainment?

Are audiences for blues gigs here in the north west getting older?

Maybe continental Europe especially Scandinavia is the future, they seem to have dozens of hot young bands over there.
