Some bad news from Pete Evans

Posted on: Monday, Nov 20, 2006

Pete tells me that the three Hookers boys will no longer be promoting bands at Hookers Blues Club at the Wrexham Rugby Club.  Attendances have not been good enough so they have called it off.

In Pete’s words….

This very sad considering that we had nine years of arguably being the best club in the north west when one considers the musicians who played there and at The Dragon Blues Festival during that time. As they say, you never know how good something is until you no longer have it.

I agree with Pete – I have had some tremendous nights at the Rugby Club.  A sign of the times.

Sad news indeed – like Ken has said some brilliant nights down at the rugby club. Too many memories to mention now – but here’s a few crackers – Sonny Black, big Memo, RJ Mischo, Little George Sueref, Jimmy Burns, James Wheeler – a full appreciation of Pete, Paul and Ian’s efforts to follow for sure! Don’t think the move away to NEWI helped, a few regulars were lost forever! Many thanks to the boys for their help and hospitality over the years.
