The Blues Foundation have announced the winners of this year’s Blues Music Awards. These awards, formerly the W.C. Handy awards (The Handys) were announced last night at a gala awards dinner in Memphis, TN.

- Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year: Etta James

- Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year: Marcia Ball
- Instrumentalist-Guitar: Hubert Sumlin
- Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year: Bobby Rush

- Soul Blues Album of the Year: Irma Thomas - After the Rain
