Gig: Blues Day in Birkenhead – Sat 16th June

Posted on: Thursday, May 31, 2007

The venue pub Hotel California in Birkenhead have an all-day blues session on Sat 16th June called “Songs In The Key of Blues”

The session runs 2pm to 10pm with £5 entry on the door. There is a BBQ in the garden.

Headlining is the new kid on the block Oli Brown Band – the hot new young British guitar slinger.

On the bill are Band Of Thieves, Space City Cowboys, Underground Ballroom, Bumper Blues Band and Blues Cartell. I don’t know the actual running order.
For my money the finest bluesman that Liverpool ever produced is Neil Partington – he now fronts Band of Thieves.

If you want to hear more of Oli Brown, he was recently featured on the Raven and the Blues podcast; the full interview and live session is still available from the RnB site. Or you can click here to go straight to the file.

The day is organised by Hotel California and Soundwave Promotions.
