Gig: Sherman Robertson – Oswestry – 05 July

Posted on: Thursday, Jun 14, 2007

SHERMAN ROBERTSON, Texas Blues giant, is to set Shropshire alight with his incendiary live show as part of a whistle stop tour of the UK this summer when he plays The Ironworks in Oswestry on July 5th, backed by Blues Move.
Regarded as a master of zydeco, hard-swinging Texas electric blues, R&B and swampy Louisiana blues. Sherman is renowned for his scorching soul vocals and the passionate intensity of his live performance, something he calls “rhythm and feel”
Born in sleepy Louisiana and raised in Houston Texas, Sherman’s talents were spotted early, when as a teenager he was invited to play lead guitar for blues superstar Bobby Bland. Years of treading the boards developed his soulful groove and gritty hard edged playing style, raising his profile to the extent that when Paul Simon needed a guitar player for his Graceland album and he chose Robertson.
Never content to hide in the studio, Sherman Robertson is true travelling blues man and showman par excellence who knows how to really thrill a live audience.
Sherman Robertson plays The Ironworks, Church Street, Oswestry on July 5th. Doors open 8pm. Tickets £15 available from box office: 01691 679123
