Hans Theessink is a Dutch bluesman based in Vienna. Renowned worldwide for his exceptional guitar playing, his sonorous voice and his warm stage presence, he has graced stages throughout Europe. He has also performed at many of the most prominent North American music festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Chicago Blues Festival. He is greatly in demand and plays an average of 200 concerts a year.
In 2004, Hans received the Austrian Amadeus Award for “Songs From The Southland”, a tribute to the music of the American South. In the words of the highly respected US blues magazine, Blues Review: “Hans Theessink is an international blues treasure. He is one of the world’s pre-eminent country pickers and his warm baritone expresses blues”. What a way to start the autumn programme at The Harbouside.
