Gig: Rev Doc – Liverpool – 4 Oct
Posted on: Tuesday, Sep 18, 2007
The Reverend Doc and The Congregation
at the Harbourside Club, Liverpool Marina
Thursday 4th October 2007 (doors open at 8pm)
Rev Doc is one of the genuine characters of the current British Blues scene. He is a charismatic frontman, who delivers raw vocals and harp, wrapped in a web of enigmatic humour. He is backed by a superb band that features the superlative guitar playing of Al Brown and the rock solid rhythm section of Davie B on drums and Alan Thompson on bass guitar.
The Glasgow-based outfit is hugely popular throughout the UK with a cult following of enthusiastic fans. Their Chicago-style blues programme is a delight, combining well-loved standards with cleverly-penned originals. Once seen, Rev Doc and The Congregation are an addictive force and never fail to satisfy the high expectation that they provoke. So, if you think you’re hard enough, come and get some – but prepare to be hooked.
Liverpool Marina is situated at Coburg Wharf, Sefton Street, Liverpool L3 4BP.
Tickets for the concert (£10 each) are obtainable from John Welsh on 0151 428 2855 or by email to email@example.com. A fund of information on the region’s excellent blues scene can be found at http://www.bluesinthenorthwest.com.
