Here is some news from Alan Pearson of Towerblues in Blackpool.
It’s fast approaching a milestone in the history of Alan Pearson’s towerblues. On the 31st of January 1998 I, along with Stuart Walmsley arranged our first gig at The Raikes Hall, Blackpool. There was a parting of the ways in 2002 and towerblues was born. On Friday Feb 1st 2008 the 10 year anniversary will be marked by a show by one of the first bands that I booked, the ever popular Les Wilson and The Mighty Houserockers.
The Raikes has in recent months risen again as a venue for live blues and that will continue in the run-up to the 10 year anniversary with some great shows from three Blackpool favourites.
Friday Oct 5th sees the return to town of the No 1 Rory Gallagher tribute band Sinnerboy.
On Saturday Oct 27th we’ll welcome the string twangin’ sounds of the wonderful Catfish Keith from Iowa City, USA.
On Thursday Nov 28th Ruf Records recording artist Ian Parker returns to The Raikes with his band.
As well as all these treats Walter Trout and The Radicals are at The Marine Hall, Fleetwood on Thusday October 11th. Support for this show is American singer/songwriter Ralston Bowles. Tickets are £15 and are available from the box office on 01253 770547 or online at www.marinehall.co.uk
Other great acts booked for 2008 include Paul Lamb & Johnny Dickinson in a one off acoustic show, Doug MacLeod, , Snake Davis & Jim Diamond and on May 31st at The Marine Hall, guitar great Robin Trower. Tickets are also available now, priced £15.
