Posted on: Sunday, Dec 9, 2007
Not strictly blues but I am sure that Martin Simpson’s blend of acoustic skill will appeal to many a bluesinthenorthwest.com reader.
Next Friday (14/12/07) sees Martin Simpson make his debut on Later…With Jools Holland.
This rounds off a fantastic year for Simpson, which has seen the release of his latest album Prodigal Son- featuring his most accomplished and critically lauded composition Never Any Good, as well as nominations for the 2008 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in no less than five categories!
Those are: Folk Singer of the Year,
Best Album for Prodigal Son,
Best Original Song for the moving Never Any Good,
Best Traditional Track for Andrew Lammie
and Musician of the Year (for the sixth year running)!
product pictureProdigal Son has been highly acclaimed across the board, from fROOTS and Word to The Guardian to and even The Sun. A career best for Simpson, it is without a doubt one of the folk albums of the year.
