Gig: Michael Messer – Worthenbury – 18 Jan

Jan 18th

Michael Messer is without doubt our finest slide guitarist – “one of the greatest guitarists ever who ranks alongside Duanne Allman and Ry Cooder” quotes US magazine Spirit. “Don’t squeeze the trigger if you can’t stand the recoil – what I hear is the real thing – bare-bones blues, gut-bucket rock” wrote the legendary Johnny Cash on the sleeve notes of Messer’s ’93 cd Rhythm Oil. In May ’01, his cd King Guitar reached no 1 in Living Blues magazine in the USA and was the most played cd on the US college circuit in that month. We needn’t say much more. Accompanying Michael is his long time partner Ed Genis on rhythm guitar a very fine guitarist in his own right. This will be a memorable night and we recommend early reservation of tickets.
