YouTube: Duffy

North Wales songbird Duffy caused quite a stir when she appeared twice on the Jools Holland Shows in 2007. I believe that she also did the Jonathan Ross show too, but I didn’t see that.

I also think she is tremendous – just hope they don’t ruin her like Joss Stone. She appears locally on 5th March at Central Station, Wrexham, which is now sold out!

I’m not a big fan of the first song you posted, the voice is drowned in the mix.

The Jools stuff is much more interesting.

I wouldn’t go as far as buying a record, ut I would probably enjoy seeing her live in a small club…

But anyway, I see it as a positive sign for music in general that voices like hers or Winehouse’s (not comparing the two, just saying they are both genuine voices) can get airplay again. Voices that have a personality, as opposed to the decade plus of Celine Dion clones we’ve been subjected to…
