Little Walter in the RnR Hall of Fame

Posted on: Wednesday, Mar 12, 2008

On Monday night this week at the Waldorf Astoria, the legend Little Walter was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I have mixed feelings about this event. On one hand I am glad that such a figure is recognised some 50 years after recording and 40 years after his death, but on the other hand I am a little disappointed that he only managed to be inducted in the sideman category. For sure, he did play on some legendary and influential songs by others but surely it was his work as a bandleader, harmonica player and outstanding vocalist performing on his solo material that is the most famous, the most influential and the most remembered.

One can read all the press about the event by following the following link.

The sweet video tribute is available on YouTube. Tell you what, those old songs have as much power and emotion today as they did back in the 1950s.
