This sounds great! Quite fancy a day out on Sunday. Only thing is, I’ve never heard of Joey Shields & The Wheels – what are they like?

Saw them yonks ago at Hooker Blues Club in Wrexham, supporting Connie Lush & Blues Shouter – from what I remember more of a rocky blues outfit – Joey is what affectionately is known as a ‘character’ though!

Cheers for info, Grahame. Blues-rock ain’t really my cup of tea but I might have a mooch along anyway.

Say hello to Raphael Callaghan for me, he’s a lovely guy! Don’t think I’ll make it on account of my-partner-in-gigs being in the States! Probably worth a look for only three quid!

Turned out to be a great day out. Joey Shields & The Wheels were a cracking band and as you say, Grahame, Joey is quite a character! He had a most blueswailin’ harpist playing with him called Joe Barrow. They went down a storm as they blasted out a set of tried-and-tested favourites including “Don’t Start Me Talking” “Lookin’ Back” and “Born Under A Bad Sign”. It was also quite a novelty watching a band in a 19th century fort…and I had time for an ice cream on the prom, too!
