Gig: BB King to play Manchester

BB King - Club Nokia, LA

Thanks to Jeremy Weltman and Grahame Rhodes for this update.  B.B. King is to play some doubles headers with John Mayall at the end of June 2009.

In the words of Jeremy…

Exciting news. BB King is back in the region this July at the MEN Arena, supported by John Mayall. Having turned 80 his concert back in March 2006 was supposed to be his last in the UK and who could blame him for hanging up his passport (it tires me out travelling across the pond and I’m half his age). But at the tender age of 83 and with a fine new album to promote, the legend returns. While for those of us who regularly saw BB in his prime may harbour disappointment at his performances these days, that great big smile and sense of humour, not to mention some classic guitar phrasing should encourage any blues guitar afficianado to attend. Catch him while you can. They don’t make blues legends like BB anymore and if you bag an early seat near the front you’ll get a chance to shake his hand.

If you want a “good” seat for BB, and havn’t booked yet, try the NEC Birmingham, the best seats on offer in Manchester were miles away, you’d hardly see the man let alone shake his hand
