RIP Snooks Eaglin

Posted on: Wednesday, Feb 18, 2009

New Orleans guitarist and vocalist Snooks Eaglin passed away today.  He was 72.

There is an excellent article on nola.com.

I only saw Snooks Eaglin one time.  He played a great set at Bodelwyddan Castle on one of the Black Top revue shows.  Some time in the 1980s because at that time I had not yet moved to Chester and was still in Yorkshire.

RIP Snooks Eaglin 1937 – 2009.

Always had a fondness for Snooks music – have about five of the great Black Top “Bluesarama” cds and he is on a couple of them – they used to record mammoth shows that ran for hours at Tipitina’s in New Orleans. These are well worth snapping up if you ever see them anywhere – about seven volumes I think!

Here’s a great, short and sweet “Talk To Your Daughter” from a good way back – swings like crazy though!

Great clip. Shows his guitar style perfectly.
