The wonders of technology! The lads were on cracking form last night, despite being a man down – Henri Herbert was double booked. A tough hour long set, obviously more guitar than usual, with Mal Barclay on fire – great player, with top tone! Nice to see a packed dance floor in front of the band – not always the case on a Telford’s Saturday. Nice to see you fellas!

Wasn’t planning a review on this as I have seen the guys a lot and they have never been less than fantastic! Just a few observations though – without Henri on the keys it was a slightly different show, and their can’t be many bands with four different musicians taking a lead vocal! A couple of treats were a killer shuffle, sung by Gary Potts, called “Simebody”, that Mike reckoned Rod Piazza used to do; and a mega-rare vocal from Roy on the drums, “Tell Me Why”, that Ken recalled by a fellow drummer, Doyle Bramhall. It was gratifying to see a packed non-blues venue with a heaving dance floor and a great reaction to the band!

Yes indeed. The moment that Mike told me it was a Piazza song I remembered it perfectly. “Somebody” from Alphabet Blues.

I have been corrected by Uncle Roy. “Tell me why” is a classic Texas tune but was a T-Birds song written by Kim Wilson. A quick look in the CD case tells me that it’s from the album “Butt Rockin'”

My memory obviously affected by the free running Cheshire Cat blonde ale.

For “Tell me why” and “Somebody” I knew all the words but clearly could not recall the original artist.

A great night. I echo what Grahame has said. The lack of the fabulous Henri pushed the band outside their normal boundaries and a few new tunes were evident.
