Earl Gaines

EARL GAINES – OCTOBER 15th    £10/£8 adv

Grammy  Award winning soul/blues singer from Nashville EARL GAINES (Grammy Award winner 2005)

Notwithstanding its reputation as the home of country music, Nashville also has a powerful tradition of blues and soul – represented no more strongly than in the figure of Earl Gaines. As lead singer with Louis Brooks and His Hi-Toppers, Earl had a number two Billboard hit in 1952 with “24 Hours A Day”, a song which has become a standard of the blues repertoire.

Grammy-winning  Nashville Blues Man EARL GAINES, with The Catfish Kings.

Not many people truly deserve the title ‘legendary’, but Earl Gaines has to be one of them; he beat Johnny Cash to a Grammy in 2004 in the Best Historical Record category.

“Earl might be 73 years old but he sounds as good as ever” said British-based soul magazine In The Basement about Earl’s 2008 CD ‘Nothing But The Blues’. Come and see for yourself on a jumping night of Southern Soul and Blues presented by The Catfish Kings. Book now to avoid disappointment.
