Liverpool Acoustic Blues Lounge

View Two Gallery, Matthew Street

Liverpool is to get its own monthly blues club dedicated to acoustic blues. It’s the Liverpool Acoustic Blues Lounge, and the venue is the View Two Gallery in Mathew Street (just across the street from that other famous club, yeah yeah yeah).

It’s the brainchild of Raphael Callaghan and Christine Purnell of slide guitar/bass guitar duo Blue C, and rides on the back of the success of their monthly club at Fort Perch Rock, New Brighton.

Says Raphael:

“We’ll run it along similar lines to Blues On The Rock, with us opening and having a special guest each time.  But unlike at the fort, where we mix up guest soloists with bands, this is purely for acoustic blues players.”

“The music room on the top floor of the View Two Gallery is one of the best rooms for acoustic events in the north west, and it has a licensed bar too.”

“We have the venue on the first Friday night of the months of October, November and December.”

“On opening night on October 2nd we have Tom Doughty as our special guest. He’s so unbelievably good on the lap-slide guitar that he makes me want to throw the slide away!”

Tom’s just had a successful playing trip to California, with standing ovations all the way. I don’t think we’ll get an opportunity to see him in small, intimate venues for much longer.

Tom is in a wheelchair, and we could do with a couple of volunteers to help carry him up the stairs. And back down again at the end. Please get in touch if you can help.

Doors open 8pm, with music from 8.30pm. Admission £5, with a chance to win blues CDs too.
Information: or 0151 709 5484.
