Opening Night – True Blues Club

Newton le Willows

28 Nov 2009

Oh what a night, late November back in 2009! “The Blues” arrived in Earlestown, Newton le Willows with a vengeance!

The Resident Band, Crossfire Blues Band, opened the evening’s entertainment at 8pm. An exceptional hour and 15 min set of original blues and covers followed which held the audience spellbound, the end of each track being met with thunderous approval. They left the stage to a tumultuous round of applause.

After a short interval Cliff Stocker & the Legendary Slack Alice were invited to take the stage! They didn’t let anybody down, their two amazing sets had people rising to their feet, applauding and cheering!

After a couple of encores Cliff & the lads ended the show at about 11.50pm to a final round of rapturous applause.

Many in the audience had travelled a fair distance to be with us on the opening night, Lincolnshire, Rhyl, Crewe, Stockport and Preston being mentioned, but one and all said they were coming back on Jan 22nd for the Mark Thornley Band gig!

Good luck lads – it’s great news to hear that another club has opened up in the region. We at Worthenbury have just started our 13th year (7 years in Wrexham and the last 5 in Worthenbury) and we still get a great buzz of expectancy in the week leading up to a gig.
Long may you flourish and I hope you get as much pleasure as we’ve had.
