More classic rock than straight blues, highly regarded local band Snakewater are holding a special CD release party gig at The Underground Live, Ashton-Under-Lyne on Saturday 1st May.
SO WHO ARE SNAKEWATER?…
If you’ve seen them before then you will know that they are all about live, full guns blazing rock & blues. If you are new to the band, then allow me to explain….
Snakewater are a Hard Rockin’ Blues three piece band based in and around Manchester in the North-West and what you get is a classic valve driven back line driven with all elements of Rock & Roll. Influences range from Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Rory Gallagher, and Peter Green to Led Zeppelin, Cream, ACDC, and Free. Basically, that Old School of British Rock persuasion of the blues! The sound that emerges from the trio after they’ve settled behind their instruments is not the one you would imagine emerging on first sight – looking like the latest young indie band in town, the wall of solid blues that they throw out is quite startling.
Their debut album ‘Dirty Rock’n’Rolla’ is due out May 2010. A brilliant contrast of songs across the album, which will definitely make an impression the current New Blues Boom. Since only forming 12 months ago, they have played over 60 gigs & festivals, across 3 countries and supported some of the “Who’s Who” of Blues acts on the circuit today, for example ‘Dr.Feelgood’, ‘Nine Below Zero’, ‘Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack’, and ex Bluesbreaker guitarist ‘Buddy Whittington’. Also rock wise they have supported the likes of ‘Zico Chain’, ‘The Fall’ and ‘New Model Army’.
The album is arriving at the right time now, has the band have worked hard and crafted their sound & style and is making a massive punch on both the ‘North West’s Unsigned Scene’ and the ‘Blues Community’.
