Gig: Forty 4 – Alexanders Chester – 17 Oct 2010

Forty 4

This weekend sees a rare Chester appearance from Liverpool blues and groovemasters Forty 4.

Forty 4 are a unique band from Liverpool England, who blend the rhythms of Blues, Funk and New Orleans with electric American roots music to create what they describe as ‘Rhythm & Groove’.  Led by the dynamite guitar and vocals of Neil Partington the band will enthrall a packed Alexanders bar.

This gig is a fundraiser for my fellow bluesinthenorthwest colleague Grahame Rhodes but I assure you that tickets will be available on the door.  The show will start with a slot by Wirral songwriter and performer Dean Johnson before Forty 4 take to the stage.  At some point during the night a time machine will transport the club back to the late 1990s to rekindle the old Down at Antone’s  partnership for a few nostalgic tunes.

Thanks Ken . . . just to clarify, the evening is organised by me as a fundraiser for my daughter and a friend who are off on a once-in-a-lifetime trip next year to Siberia with the Girl Guides senior section. Tickets are just £7 with a prize draw and afore-mentioned fine purveyors of quality music. If anyone fancies coming along they would be very welcome.
Cheers, Grahame
