Gig: Ian Siegal and Ben Prestage – UK Tour 2010

Posted on: Friday, Oct 29, 2010

Charismatic, massively talented and as ruggedly handsome as they come, MOJO magazine rates Siegal ” the cleverest writer and most magnetic performer of Blues in the UK.” He is one of only two living British artists to be given the highest rating in the Penguin Book of Blues and his CD BROADSIDE was Mojo Blues Album of 2009.

Whether fronting his band or sitting on a stool with an old resonator guitar, Siegal’s live performances are captivating. “The man is a star. Period,” is how one reviewer described Siegal after an appearance at London’s renowned Jazz Café as the special guest of Pinetop Perkins and the Muddy Waters Blues Band. He has played major festivals in Europe including the North Sea Jazz Festival where he shared the main stage with Robert Cray, Jamie Cullum and Joss Stone.

Supporting Ian on the UK tour will be the Ben Prestage, a guitarist, singer-songwriter and touring one-man band. Prestage was runner-up in the 2008 International Blues Challenge held annually in Memphis and is also the recipient of the Most Unique Performer award at The Songwriters Showcase of America.

In 2010 Ben Prestage will finally get his first UK release. Recorded in his home state of Florida, the fourteen tracks on REAL MUSIC showcase his whisky soaked vocal delivery and his stunning musicianship on a wide variety of instruments.
