Gig: Junkhousedog – Upton Village Hall, Chester – 07 May 2011

Junkhousedog Blues Band have been doing a spring season for Cheshire Rural Touring Arts.  Unfortunately only one show is left, we missed all the others.

Saturday 7th May – Upton Village Hall, near Chester

Junkhousedog is a Manchester based blues band founded and fronted by ‘British Blues Harmonica Champion 2008/09’ Luke ‘Junkhousedog’ Shaw. Luke is a dynamite singer and front man. The energy that sparks off him, igniting the room as he plays, is contagious. He is a true harp heavyweight!

Junkhousedog mixes steamy shuffles and eclectic swing, with true vintage Chicago style grit. For them, the usual ‘Blues standard’ and ‘formulae’ do not apply.

Imagine if you will, catching a night out to watch a live band and walking into a joint where the atmosphere is literally jumpin’ ‘n’ hot, with an audience that looks like its shoelaces have caught fire! Like their heroes, the band’s honking tone drives the music like an express train, steaming through the mid Western plains, making everyone who witnesses it stop in their tracks.

Welcome to the world of the Junkhousedog, the Power of Blues! The band have established a reputation as one of the most entertaining and sweatiest bands on the circuit.

Unfortunately, the site does not mention prices, nor how to obtain tickets.

My local post office in Upton has a poster up for this . . . almost sure it’s £11, which includes some sort of food . . . I’ll endeavour to get a contact number.
