Mark Flanagan

The Mark Flanagan Trio
at Garston Royal British Legion
Friday 27th May 2011

(Doors: 8pm, show: 8.45pm)

Liverpool-born Mark Flanagan is perhaps best known as the guitarist in Jools Holland’s Rhythm & Blues Orchestra for whom he has starred since 1988. Whilst that might be deemed to be his day job, his considerable talent reaches real fulfilment as the vocalist and guitarist in his own trio. In that incarnation, he is very ably supported by Kevin Willoughby on bass and George Double on drums.

Mark’s early influences include Django Rheinhardt and Hank Williams and his musical style ranges across the blues, roots, country and folk. Among the high-profile appearances of the trio, their performance on the main stage at the Burnley Blues Festival in 2009 was particularly well-received and inspired this much-anticipated booking.

Garston Royal British Legion is situated at Haig House, Woolton Road, Garston, Liverpool L19 5NQ, close to Liverpool South Parkway station. Tickets for the concert (£12 each in advance and £13 on the door) are obtainable from John Welsh on 0151 428 2855 or from www.johnnysbluesclub.co.uk.
