THE SECTION.
At the Hop Pocket Public House, Chorley.
Presented by Lucas Campbell,at BJ’s Blues Club on Thursday  the 21st of July.

A fantastic nights entertainment at BJ’s Blues Club the Northwest’s Number One venue.

This five piece band from the Lancaster area have been together for the past 27 years playing all over the county and beyond.  Front man and core founder of the band Mick (The Gov’nor) Taylor who played bass guitar and took the lead vocal has created a band of true professionals.

On lead guitar, slide guitar and backing vocals was Steve Pollard – born to play a guitar,  he also mixed the sound for this great band.  Steve exchanged the lead riffs with the keyboard player Geoff Wilkinson who also played guitar when required – A simply stunning performance from this pair.

The other half of the rhythm section was Truvel Thomas on drums and percussion – a solid and tight tempo – he kept the guys together.

Dave Beesley played a hot blues harmonica, sadly he has recently announced his retirement from the band, but he was enlisted to do this final performance.  He did not want to miss this one.

The band gave a sharp first set that you would expect from such a talented mature band.  Playing blues covers – House Is Rocking, Green Stuff, Help Me, and two of their own compositions Take Me Home, and Mad Crazy World  which they compiled on a CD in the early 90’s.

Mick’s enthusiasm sprang into life, he guided the band through the first set of 12 numbers and left the stage.  Tthe crowd shouted for more – the best was yet to come.

The band took to the stage for the second set, straight into Boom Boom, On The Road Again, Lets Work Together, Sweet Home Chicago.  Things were hotting up.  The band gave a stuning show lasting approximately two hours – That’s value for money in my book.  They did an encore – twice!

The roof was raised, the crowd was won over, and these professional musicians had a good time – Now that’s what its about.
