Theatre of Blues – Theatre Severn Shrewsbury – Saturday 4th February 2012

Organisers have announced the line-up for the very first Theatre of Blues Festival to be held on Saturday 4th February 2012, at Theatre Severn.

Headliner – Big Joe Louis & His Blues Kings
Jamaican born and raised, Big Joe is a favourite on the European blues circuit and twice voted ”Best UK Male Blues Vocalist”.  He’s performed around the world-in over 20 European countries plus the USA, Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Egypt and South Africa and recorded with artists from Van Morrison to Dave ”Honeyboy” Edwards.
He has accompanied over 25 US blues/gospel artists including; Lazy Lester, R L Burnside, Big Jack Johnson, Homesick James, Carey Bell, Rev Charlie Jackson, Roosevelt ”Booba” Barnes, Louisiana Red, Big Bad Smitty and Big Lucky Carter.

Organisers are proud to announce Big Joe Louis & His Blues Kings as the headline band forTheatre of Blues – Theatre Severn Shrewsbury 2012

Support comes from Pieter van der Pluijm aka ‘Big Pete’ from Holland (formerly with the Backbones & MOCT) and the Jon Amor Blues Group (Jon formerly of renowned British Blues group, The Hoax).  Other artists include Babajack, Scotland ‘s own Dave Arcari, Rhythm Zoo, Northsyde and Shrewsbury’s Blues Boy Dan.

Tickets are priced at £25 for the whole event and can be purchased from the theatres box office tel: 01743 281 281 or by visiting the theatre web site www.theatresevern.com

The event will run from 12 noon, when doors open, through to around midnight.  Organisers have been delighted with the public response and support of the event so far, with tickets already selling.

Interesting line-up that Andi and Dermot of Rhythm Zoo have put together. Another chance for the public to view the prodigious talent that is Blues Boy Dan. Also nice to see my old mate Dave Arcari in the area again.

Your right Pete its a belter isn’t it!!…so pleased Big Joe Louis agreed to commit to the festival with so many euro dates next year and to get Peiter van der Pluijm and Jon Amor is a massive bonus. We saw Blues Boy Dan a good 12 months ago at the Wheatsheaf in Shrewsbury and kept him in mind. Hope to see you there….:-)
