Graham Robinson is playing at the Kings Head tonight. Why not go and support an excellent real ale pub that is putting on music – indeed music that is free!!!
Jarrow born Blues and Ragtime guitarist Graham Robinson plays the weekly Music and Real Ale night at the Kings Head in Carlisle tonight (Thursday 11th).
Graham’s guitar playing reflects the styles of the early blues masters particularly the east coast, syncopated styles of Blind Blake and Blind Boy Fuller. However, other major influences on his distinctive playing include Bo Carter, Lonnie Johnson, Rev. Gary Davis, Memphis Minnie & Kansas Joe, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Big Bill Broonzy, Fred McDowell, and the Memphis Jug Band to name but a few.
He has supported a host of famous artists on his journeys around the length and breadth of the UK including Oli Brown, Nine Below Zero and the UK’s master of the Blues Mr Ian Siegal who played such an amazing set at Maryport Blues this year. A typical performance from Graham includes impassioned renditions of a selection of songs from the above artists played with energy and conviction on a very old Stella, and National resonator guitars.
Support for the evening comes from local talent Jude Connolly. The evening’s entertainment commences at 8.30 and entrance to the event is free.
