The Ramsbottom Cricket Club will become a showcase for the finest acts in blues, rock and roll and R&B as iconic musicians including 60’s rock group The Animals and Friends and legendary rock guitarist Steve Cropper are poised to take the stage at the Ramsbottom Festival’s opening night.

Iconic blues rockers The Animals and Friends will be headlining on Friday. With timeless classics including ‘House of the Rising Sun’ and ‘Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood’ they are set to excite all the festival’s rock and roll fans with their gritty R&B sounds.

One of Rolling Stone Magazine’s ‘100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time’, Steve Cropper of Stax Records’ Booker T. and the M.G.s is also on the bill for Friday evening. Festival-goers are in for a treat of wailing guitar classics as Cropper entertains the crowds with his unique blend of classic blues rock.

R&B and soul group Mark Radcliffe and The Big Figures have also been confirmed to join Friday night bill. The BBC Radio 2 DJ and his band are the latest addition to join the host of other acts performing over the weekend including; The Guillemots, Young Knives, Cherry Ghost, Badly Drawn Boy, The Waterboys and more.

The festival also boasts an impressive array of folk and roots acts with Capercaille, Mike McGoldrick, and Kristy Almeida and the Troubadours also confirmed for a day of guitar strumming folk melodies.

Festival-goers can also enjoy a host of other artistic and foodie delights with delicious real ales from local brewers Outstanding, who have also created an exclusive Ramsbottom Festival Ale for music lovers to enjoy over the weekend.

Camping is available for those looking for the full festival experience with the site welcoming tents from Thursday to Sunday and hot breakfasts from local restaurant, The Fisherman’s Retreat, also on offer every morning.

Tickets for just the Friday night are available for £15. Weekend tickets are selling fast but you can still be purchased to enjoy the complete festival programme which features a hot list of the best indie and folk bands, DJs, family friendly activities and workshops on offer for Saturday and Sunday.
