Review: Russ Tippins Electric Band – BJ’s at Hop Pocket, Chorley – 27 Oct 2011

The Russ Tippins Electric Band.

This fantastic Rock /Blues  power  trio from the Newcastle on Tyne area rocked the house and drove” ELECTRICKERY”  through the veins of the packed crowd at Chorley.

Russ Tippins the founder and front man of this terrific band , is a master craftsman on the lead guitar and on top of that a voice that
any aspiring rock star would kill for.  John Dawson on bass guitar,   I have to say was out standing he is without doubt one of the best boogie and funk bassists I’ve heard this year , blistering,  and not too shaky as a bass soloist either.

As timekeepers go you would be hard pressed to find another as good as Ian Halford. on his Liberty Kit,  he has an arsenal of rhythms and raised the level of drumming, exciting to watch, and a confident display.

The band have been together since 2009 and have already cut a album/C. D.,  entitled  “ELECTRICKERY”,  details on their web site

Russ has penned all the original numbers on the album,  and would be a must for your collection, rock or blues fans alike.
The band mixed their original numbers with covers and gave a show that has been an experience ,  they are touring all over England
at the minute – check their gig list you would not want to miss this one.

I have no doubt in my mind that with the release of this album that they will achieve the next level,  watch this space.
