Gig: The Cadillac Kings – Johnny’s Blues Club @ Garston RBL – 25 Nov 2011

Posted on: Friday, Nov 11, 2011

The Cadillac Kings
at Garston Royal British Legion
Friday 25th November 2011 (doors: 8pm, show: 8.45pm)

The swinging bluesmen from Essex are one of the brightest jewels in the UK blues crown. Fronted by inspired songwriter Mike Thomas on excellent vocals and sporadic slide guitar, the band also boasts an equally splendid array of talent in the shape of Gary Potts on harmonica, Mal Barclay on guitar, Eric Ranzoni on keyboards, Roy Webber on drums and Paul Cuff on double bass.

Their individual and collective brilliance is further enhanced by their unfailing ability to put on a performance, with warmth and humour exuding from their every pore. In short, they are an absolute delight. This is the band’s first appearance on the JoLo series of superlative gigs but public demand will guarantee that it won’t be their last.

Halle-bloody-luja I can access BITNW again!! Thanks for the kind mention Grahame, we are REALLY looking forward to playing in the promised land again. Gary, Roy & me are going to get in the mood by making a flying visit to Norway this Saturday to catch TWO performances by James Harman. If the mountain wont come to, etc ……

Welcome back Mike! The next time you decide to do something crazy like fly over to Norway to see some unknown blues guy, do me a favour and let me know. I might decide to goosberry you.

I’m losing it, just realised I said thanks to ‘Grahame’ instead of to you Ken. Apologies!

Message from promoter Johnny……

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I’ve been forced to move our concert from Garston RBL to Fogherty’s Function Room (off Smithdown Road). I’ve been very fortunate indeed to be able to book this alternate venue at such short notice. I hope that you are still able to attend, if you planned on coming along on Friday.
Parking spaces can be found in local streets, but the car park at the Richmond pub off Church Road is ideal. There is a pathway alongside the shopping precinct which leads down to Smithdown Road. Cross over the road and turn left at the BudJet garage on Blenheim Road.
Public transport (buses 86, 80, 76, 77, 74, 75) from bus stops outside Witherspoons (around the corner from Central Station) will take you to Penny Lane. It is only a short walk back up Smithdown Road to Blenheim Road.
Please accept my apologies for messing you about. It’s all down to the management at Garston RBL. I’ll tell you more when we meet.
Hope you can still join us for what promises to be a great night of song & dance.
