Friday January 20th JOHN FAIRHURST

This amazingly talented young guitarist has been described as  having -” a bottle-neck style blues referencing the likes of Son House and Bukka White, comparisons to the fingerpicking of John Fahey, a leaning towards the psychedelic 60’s rock of Hendrix and Led Zeppelin and the ever present influence of K. Sridhar and Indian raga, John’s music is a real melting-pot of diverse musical traditions. ”  Sponsored by National Guitars, he has appeared at Glastonbury and many other top festivals but this is his 1st show in this area.

Saturday March 31st  WATERMELON SLIM

We are really pleased that we have managed to book the legendary Slim, a quite unique character. He has a Masters degree, served in Vietnam before becoming a forceful opponent of the war and has driven trucks all over the USA ! Apart from that he has been nominated for and won many prestigious blues awards. He will be playing guitar and harp, embellishing the evening with great stories. This will be a memorable night.

Friday April 20th JEREMY SPENCER & PAPA GEORGE

Who can forget the 1st Fleetwood Mac album  (the dog and dustbin sleeve).  It featured the amazing slide guitar of Jeremy Spencer and introduced many of us to the work of Elmore James. Having joined Peter Green in 1967, Jeremy left in 1971 and hadn’t performed blues regularly until 2005. It is as if time hasn’t passed as Jeremy is as brilliant as he was in 1967. He is joined by Papa George from London who is recognized as one of the UK’s top guitarists  especially on the steel guitar and someone we have been trying to book for a long time.
