Bowness Bay Blues – 30th March to 1st April 2012

Windermere Rotary Club, the team who brought you the Windermere Air Show, have had another good idea… This time they are bringing the best of British blues to the most beautiful part of the Lake District, with all the profits going to charity.

The concept grew out of a very successful blues evening in Windermere in early 2011, featuring harmonica maestro Paul Lamb and the King Snakes. The locals couldn’t get enough of Paul’s red-hot brand of blues, boogie and swing, and the organisers were delighted when the band agreed to headline the first night of their new festival. Topping the bill on Saturday will be blues diva Connie Lush, five times voted Best British Female Vocalist by readers of Blues in Britain magazine. The highlight on Sunday will be the Jon Amor Blues Group, an exciting band that have been touring all over Europe and capturing new fans wherever they go.

The festival will include at least seven other top-quality blues bands, as well as some excellent acoustic acts, making up a full weekend of live music at pubs and hotels all round Bowness-on-Windermere. The Rotarians behind the festival have enlisted the help of some experienced blues festival organisers who are generously giving their time and support to help launch this new event.

Windermere Rotary Club are looking forward to a very lively, entertaining weekend – and they hope that fellow Rotarians will beat a path to Windermere this spring!
