Blues recommendations

Posted on: Sunday, Feb 26, 2012

Hello all.  This is my first post to bluesinthenorthwest.com for quite a while.  I have a question for the bluesinthenorthwest.com hivemind.

I have been asked by one of my Spanish friends in Madrid to recommend a list of blues CDs to act as an introduction to the blues genre for him.

He is a guitarist playing both pop music and also singing and playing in the church.

My question clearly is – what CDs could I recommend that would act as a good introduction to the broad church that is the blues?  I am thinking five to ten CDs.

Please comment below or over on our sister facebook page.

I have posted on the FB page . . . maybe a selection of compilations from the greats would be a good start . . Albert, Freddie & BB King; Little Walter, Howling Wolf, Jimmy Reed, Walter Horton, T-Bone Walker . . . etc., etc. Take it from there and turn to individual albums.
