Gig: Tantrum – Calva Bar, Carlisle – Sat 10 Mar 2012

Posted on: Tuesday, Mar 6, 2012

Lancaster Blues favourites Tantrum play the Calva Bar at the University of Cumbria in Carlisle on Saturday 10th March.

They have only played a few gigs in the area over the last few years as they have been away in the USA. The trio have been playing in California as heavy rock alter ego’s ‘The Feud’ but for this gig they will be reverting to the high energy rock blues that saw them open the first Carlisle Blues Festival in 2007.

Tantrum have just released a CD of rare and live material and will no doubt be playing much of it on the night. As one reviewer said: “They are simply amazing. Guitar solos are mastered tunefully, drums thrash out in pounding jazz-like solo’s and the vocals are powerful, raw and emotive.”

Considering ‘ Classic Rock’ have a cd this month featuring mainly blues players as ‘New Rock’ it’s regrettable that Tantrum aren’t on it with the likes of Oli Brown.

Find out why at 7.30 in the Calva Bar. Entry is £7 in advance and £9 on the door, £5 students from Calva Bar or Chris Denton.
