Gigs: Appleton Thorn – Village Hall Music
Posted on: Saturday, Jun 30, 2012
Roger Kenyon has a series of fine looking Autumn gigs booked at Appleton Thorn Village Hall, near Warrington . . . here’s some advance notice.
Saturday, 29th September – Clive Carroll
Over the past few years, Clive’s startling compositions and amazing technique has rightly drawn comparisons to many of the world’s greatest contemporary players.
Known for his mesmerizing ability to draw audiences in with his warm, organic style, Clive plays striking original compositions that span the fields of classical, jazz, and traditional music, with seamless leaps from blues to chamber music to Irish reels, and from bluegrass to fusion jazz.
Saturday, 13th October – Martin Stephenson
A long standing friend and regular visitor, Martin really needs no introduction as he never fails to entertain us in his unique style.
After touring extensively with the Daintees this year, he returns live and acoustic to the Village Hall.
For those who haven’t seen him, his style is difficult to pigeonhole, ranging from ragtime to blues through his own compositions to bluegrass and beyond.
Martin has a huge following both locally and nationally and demand for tickets is always high, be sure to get yours early!
Saturday, 3rd November – Steve Phillips & Brendan Croker
The legendary Steve Phillips is an old friend of the Village Hall and always enjoys his infrequent visits to us. On 3rd November he will be appearing alongside fellow guitarist Brendan Croker.
They are perhaps best known along with Mark Knopfler, as members of The Notting Hillbillies.
Expect to hear the best in country blues, swing and more from these most accomplished of performers.
A message from Roger:
I have finally got my act (and printer) together and tickets for all dates are now on sale.
Admittance will be by ticket only, with no sales on the door. This has proved to be the most satisfactory way of managing numbers on the night.
The dates all seem a long way off, but if you want to attend, please get a ticket sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment, as they WILL sell out!
As usual, tickets can be bought from either behind the Village Hall bar or direct from me on 07946 378599.
All events are priced at £10 with no reserved seats and doors at 8:00pm.
Regards, Roger Kenyon
