YouTube: Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones – Mannish Boy

Posted on: Wednesday, Jul 18, 2012

This, and other clips from The Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago on 22nd November, 1981 – with members of The Rolling Stones, together with Lefty Dizz and Buddy Guy, all sitting in with Muddy Waters and band – have been around for a good while, but it’s fabulous to see them cleaned up and pristine, having been restored from the original footage, and the sound mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain. Eagle Vision have now put the footage out on DVD:

When Mojo Buford came over for his last tour, he had some copies of the original recording – very grainy but nontheless a brilliant memory. Mojo is playing harp and his big smile is quite obvious… he was toally bemused by Mick’s gyrating and cavorting in front of him and I won’t repeat what he said!!!!
