From Gary White . . . Bluefunk news and more

Hi – Back from ‘La Belle France’ and 35 degrees, to bone chillin’ Britain. Mind you, I was already sweating the morning I left to go, after Ian Siegal’s amazing performance at Cabin 5150. What an awesome performer he is. Beyond all expectations, it is safe to say. Ian thoroughly enjoyed his first ever visit to this area and has expressed his wishes to come back and see us early next year. I shall be moving mountains to make sure that happens.
Meanwhile I have many gems to offer between now and then. This coming Friday (14th September) I have arranged for a spanking little outfit from Chicago to play for Chris at The Wharf pub on Brook Street, Macclesfield.
The Black Oil Brothers are an excellent four-piece acoustic blues/roots/Americana band who played for me last year at Langley Village Hall and were very well received indeed. Entry is free and I can’t think of a better way to spend your Friday evening.
Next Bluefunk event at The WMC Poynton is on Thursday, 29th September and heralds a superb, eclectic selection of artists for the coming Autumn season. I refer of course to Cassie Taylor and The Soul Cavalry. This fine young woman has been cutting a swathe across Europe and the US for a while and finally reaches the UK with a cracking three-piece band featuring Jamie Little (drums) – one of the finest drummers to have graced Bluefunk over the years (think Sherman Robertson); and Jack Moore (guitar), son of one of the finest blues/rock guitarists to have graced Planet Earth – the late Gary Moore.
This is an exciting prospect indeed. Tickets are £10, doors 8pm, band 9pm. It’s about time Bluefunk had some feminine talent in the place. Book your tickets! see you soon.
