Jim Reynolds – If Only

(self-release)

Jim is a singer and guitarist out of Bristol who is well-known on the folk circuit but in the past he has also frequently turned his hand to the blues – particularly the ragtime blues in true 60s fashion. He is a very accomplished musician and has played with the likes of Wizz Jones and George Melly, and he had a very bluesy album entitled “There I Am” some years back.

The present set finds Jim more in introspective singer/songwriter territory, but there are still items to interest readers with a couple of guitar pieces in a Bert Jansch/ Davy Graham vein, the country and Irish tinged Americana of the title track (lovely violin playing by Gina Griffin) and most especially the ragtime flavoured ‘Perhaps Yes No Well Maybe’. Perhaps it would be best to check out the earlier release, and if you enjoy that, work your way forward to this…
