Jock’s Juke Joint Vol 2 – A Collection of Contemporary Scottish Blues

Posted on: Tuesday, Nov 20, 2012

Based on the theme of a fictitious Scottish juke joint, the Jock’s Juke Joint series was devised to highlight original material recorded by Scottish Blues artists. The first volume of the series was released in September 2012 and included notable acts including Gerry Jablonski & The Electric Band, Stevey Hay, The Jensen Interceptors, the Bare Bones Boogie Band, the Dana Dixon Band Lewis Hamilton & Albany Down. The release gained widespread praise and interest throughout the UK and beyond. Featuring extensively on blues radio shows, included Paul Jones’ BBC Radio 2 show, reviews have been published or forthcoming in numerous national music magazines.

Following this success, Lewis Hamilton Music are pleased to announce that the second volume will be available from Thursday 22 November. Building on the foundation of the first volume, this release expands from the electric blues, rock blues and acoustic blues of the first volume to incorporate the wider facets of the blues genre.  The album opens with a new song by Scottish blues stalwarts Blues N Trouble, with several other regular festival favourites, including Wang Dang Delta, Fraser Speirs, the Binsness Bluesboys and Baby Isaac.

Previously unreleased songs include a recording featuring Alan Nimmo (of Nimmo Brothers and King King fame) plus a range of up and coming blues acts emerging from the Scottish blues underground such as Leah Gourley, Earl Grey & The Loose Leaves and the Kennel Wages. The diversity of the release is evident through the funk blues of Zimbabwean born Cynthia Gentle, the big band sound of The Blueswater, the soulful blues of Lynsey Dolan and the folk tinged compositions of the Black Diamond Express and John Alexander.  Please see below for a full band listing.

The CD will automatically be sent to all the press contacts that have already aired or reviewed the first Jock’s Juke Joint album. Additional copies, press queries and further information can be obtained by contacting contact Duncan Beattie ( or Nick Hamilton (

There will also be a launch for the new album on Thursday 22 November at the Counting House, Edinburgh, which will include performances by several of the featured artists.
