Otis Grand CD front small.jpg

No doubt about my CD of the year – Otis Grand, “Blues ’65”, despite it being released late in the year. Real blues, by a master, as it should be played… Nothing else I’ve heard really comes close!

Definitely worth mentioning though are Memphis Gold‘s ‘Picking In High Cotton’ for a personal, downhome yet contemporary album, Jackson, Mississippi’s Grady Champion CD ‘Shanachie Days” for the younger generation’s take on the classic sound, and Swing Alley’s CD by veteran pianist Bob Seeley and younger Spanish boogie ace Lluis Coloma, “International Boogie Woogie Explosion”.
