Laurence Jones and his band returned to the True Blues Club after their successful performance in winning the North West heat in The Battle of the Blues competition, and now go forward to the final held in London in March – we all wish them well.

The Laurence Jones Band are Laurence on lead vocal and a scorching lead guitar; on bass guitar we have Luke Dolan and on the drums Pete Rycroft. These three young men I’m sure are now ready to step up to the next level, they are capable, and show a maturity to do so, time will tell as they say but they deserve a crack at it. There is, thank God, a younger generation looming, carrying the torch for the blues and rock/blues genre – it has to survive. Tradition is all well and good but changes in a good way help to keep the music fresh.

The band with their latest release a cd entitled “Thunder In The Sky” – the title track along with eight other original tracks and one cover, did very well at a recent gig in Skegness. Exposure and promoting your creativity is crucial and hard work, but could reap rewards and be the start of a sparkling and fruitful career for these young men, I know they will be giving it their best shot in the final in London.
