Blind Pig Records will release new CDs from Southern Hospitality, Sena Ehrhardt, and The Cash Box Kings on March 12th, but you can get them now by ordering from our website.

Southern Hospitality is comprised of lap steel guitar master Damon Fowler, guitarist extraordinaire JP Soars, and keyboard wizard Victor Wainwright, a group of young musicians who are masters of their craft and embody the soul and spirit of Dixie.

With echoes of Muscle Shoals and Macon, these musician’s musicians draw on their rich heritage of Southern soul, blues, and rock music to create a fresh translation of Americana and Southern roots music with a modern sensibility.

The band has been generating a huge buzz with their extraordinary live performances, and their debut release on Blind Pig Records, Easy Livin’, promises to be one of the most exciting CDs of 2013.  The album was produced by Tab Benoit, winner of three Blues Music Awards last year, who said, “Damon, Victor, and JP are the future of roots music.”

The uniformly enthusiastic response to vocalist Sena Ehrhardt’s brilliant 2012 Blind Pig debut recording, Leave The Light On, resulted in a number of awards and nominations and critical assessment like this from Jazz & Blues Report: “Make way for a rising star!”

For her second recording, Sena has teamed up with one the foremost producers in the worlds of rock and blues (Santana, Luther Allison, Stevie Ray Vaughan), multi-Grammy Award winner Jim Gaines. Sena describes working with Jim like this: “The gifts of his experience, insights and vision were so inspiring.  Jim made the music the star, and helped bring the best performances out of all the musicians on the album.”

The result of their collaboration is a groove-rich, exciting exploration of the blues in all its moods.  All In truly delivers on the promise of Leave The Light On and places Ehrhardt among the very best and most versatile of current blues vocalists.

On 2011’s Holler And Stomp, the Kings’ Blind Pig label debut, these illustrious torchbearers captured the essence of the Memphis and Chicago blues sounds of the 40’s and 50’s, while adding their own bravado, energy and freshness to the mix.

The album, one of the brightest and most distinctive blues records in recent memory, garnered three Blues Music Award nominations and acclaim from the likes of Charlie Musselwhite: “How refreshing it is to hear some honest blues. The Cash Box Kings play with taste and feel and it was faith restoring to know there are guys out there that still know and appreciate real blues.”

On their new release, Black Toppin’, the Kings stretch out and cover some of the other musical landscapes that blues music has traversed over the last 70 years. While remaining dedicated to carrying on the musical traditions of post-war Chicago blues, they also display their deep affinity for Delta and Louisiana swamp blues, jump blues and their own signature “blues-a-billy.”  And the Kings don’t have a problem delving into the musical styles of groups that were influenced by the blues, covering a tune by the Velvet Underground and including a pair of originals redolent of the 70’s era Rolling Stones.
