6th April, 2013 – Dr Bob’s Blues Night

This newly formed band from the North West have started well, they have an abundance of skill individually as musicians, that there is no doubt, the gelling process will come the more they get involved in live performances and their stage craft will kick in when they begin to think like one individual, and I’m sure with a little work they will achieve this pretty quickly – a work in progress as they say.

I was very impressed by the band as a whole;  Simon Noble on lead vocal and lead guitar was as they say the front man, and the band was driven by him and his skilled guitar playing. Andy Lewis on keys and backing vocal gave the band a full round sound and his solos inter weaved with Simon’s guitar. The rhythm section was solid throughout with Pete Black on bass guitar and on the drums was John A Hilton.

The band have lined up a few more gigs in and around the North West. I for one will try and go to see them again. They performed 22 numbers in their two sets mixed with some original material penned by Simon Noble; covers by Bill Perry, Bernard Allison, Robert Cray, Eric Clapton and Susan Tedeschi, just to give you blues fans a taster. Watch this space, the bands performance was far from being RAMSHACKLE!
