Kelly Richey

(Sweet Lucy: KRB1141)

Kelly Richey – “Sweet Spirit” might conjure up ideas of some kind of mellow singer/ songwriter stuff. If so, strap yourself in! Singer and guitarist Kelly takes her cue from The Black Keys, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and R. L. Burnside – if you like your blues-rock taut, hot and raw and at times verging on the brutal, with suitably gruff and throaty vocals, you’ve come to the right place.

She has been around for the last 35 years and has a lengthy discography, she’s no Janey-come lately and brings all this experience to bear on the ten tracks of this oh-so tough CD. The running time only just passes the half hour mark, but there is as much energy within as there is on albums twice as long.
