NEW VIDEO FROM JIMMY VIVINO
“SONG FOR LEVON” A TRIBUTE TO LATE BAND DRUMMER

Jimmy Vivino, renowned guitarist and bandleader of the Conan TV show, just released the first video from 13 Live, his new album from Blind Pig Records.  The selection, “Song For Levon,” features a duet of Vivino on piano and Byron Isaacs on guitar filmed on April 19th in Tarrytown, NY.

The new album was recorded last November in front of a live audience at Levon’s Helm’s beautiful barn studio in Woodstock, NY.   Jimmy, who was close friends with the late drummer for The Band, wrote “Song For Levon” for the occasion. He said, “It is always a very emotional trip whenever I try to sing this song for Levon.”

For the CD recording session, Vivino got his fabled New York City band, the Black Italians, back together.  The album features rousing renditions of roots music Jimmy calls “Third World blues with New Orleans swagger.”  It mixes original songs with covers of tunes by the likes of Bob Dylan, James Brown, Traffic, Johnny Winter, and even a version of The Band’s “The Shape I’m In.” http://mailman.305spin.com/users/blindpigrecords/images/Jimmy-VivinoWeb.jpg
