News update from Raphael Callaghan . .

Hello Everyone,
The sun is shining here in N. Wales and it is actually warm, hot even, for the first time for many years (or so it seems).

I’ve been enjoying doing solo gigs while Chris is taking a back seat at the moment. It’s giving me a push and opportunity to write
and perform different kinds of songs suitable for my solo style as opposed to the duo, and I am happy and relieved to say they are going down well. I opened for the wonderful young bluesy singer/guitar player Marcus Bonfanti at a lovely new communty arts centre in Colwyn Bay, Endegi Arts, and now they’ve asked me to play, host and organise a monthly blues night there.  I’ve said yes! I’m calling it the Acoustic Blues Lounge, and the launch night is next Friday, June 14th. My special guest on opening night is the singer/guitar player Harry Robertson, who is regarded (and quite rightly) as a ‘class act’ wherever he plays.  But his gigs are few and far between, so this will be a rare opportunity to catch an extended set from him, in between a couple of sets from me. Doors open 7.30pm, music from 8.30pm, adm £5. Bar and cafe, and chance to win blues CDs too.
The Acoustic Blues Lounge will be on the second Friday of each month and I have an excellent line-up of guests. But we need support!
Summer is here, why not combine a weekend away in beautiful North Wales with a blues night at Endegi Arts? Endegi is in Station Road,
in the old Imperial Hotel building right opposite Colwyn Bay railway station. It’s a funky yet really comfortable place.
And tomorrow (Friday, June 7th) I’m actually at Endegi doing a short opening spot for Cherry Lee Mewis. Cherry is a local girl, from Mochdre,
and she is making a huge name for herself on the national blues scene. She lives in London now and this is a homecoming gig, so should be good.
She has been described as the British Bonnie Raitt – praise indeed.
Hope you are all OK. This email is being sent to those on the Blue Cee mailing list or to those who have expressed an interest in our music. If you
wish to be removed from the list, that’s no problem, just let us know.
 All best wishes,
 Raphael Callaghan
