Posted on: Monday, Sep 9, 2013
Forget preconceptions and put labels and marketing hype aside. Tom Doughty plays and sings real, organic music that comes from the soul. And if it’s impossible to categories, well as Tom himself says of his musical explorations, “I haven’t found any boundaries yet…..”
With numerous radio and TV appearances and three critically acclaimed CDs to his name, Tom’s reputation as a musician, singer, songwriter, teacher, writer and workshop leader is international.
Graham together with Root Chords and The Deportees is an Alexander’s fixture. Playing on guitars of every variety, mandolin, mandocello, harmonica, melodeon and banjo and his repertoire ranges from American blues, ragtime and country music to British traditional songs and material by modern songwriters, including himself.
Together Tom and Graham have created a new partnership which ranges across all their experience and influences, singing great songs with spontaneous improvisation and great musicianship. The duo of Northwich-based slide maestro Tom Doughty, and Alexander’s favourite, Graham Bellinger –deliver a mix of blues/folk and World music and beyond.
The two musicians combine their talents and different types of music to often improvise and veer slightly away from the norm.
