Steve Brown RIP

Posted on: Saturday, Nov 16, 2013

It has become quite normal to post news of bluesmen passed away from the other side of the world. Whilst sad, it is not as painful as having to post about the loss of one of our own.

Liverpool musician Steve Brown passed away yesterday after a long battle with illness.  Steve was a stalwart of the Liverpool music scene and, in his long career, he played with everybody, everywhere.  His unflappable nature and rock solid bass will be missed by many.

His most recent project was as one fifth of the Liverpool groove merchants Forty4.  I had the pleasure to sit in with the band on a couple of occasions and Steve was always a gentleman. Handling my rank amateur experience like the experienced professional that he was.

He will be missed for his personality as well as his musical ability.

RIP Steve .

Sorry Steve, if you’re reading this – I know that you hated that picture but it is the only decent pic that I have.

Terrible news. A terrific musician but more importantly a truly nice guy.

Sincere condolences to his band, his friends and his family.
