Posted on: Sunday, May 4, 2014
The Brothers Groove is a Birmingham-based band, whose reputation for characterful groove , superior tones, seriously catchy songs and genuine Brummie friendliness is growing at an increasing rate throughout the UK.
The trio, comprising guitarists Shaun Hill and Nigel Mellor and bass guitarist Deano Bass, has fused its disparate range of influences, which include The Average White Band, Little Feat, Eric Clapton, Robben Ford and Albert Collins, into a unique fusion of blues grooves with a distinctive funky edge – they are augmented for live shows by Jim Simpson on drums.
The enthusiasm of the band is infectious and they are acclaimed for their vibrant performances. In addition, their recently released album, “Play The Game”, has received glowing reviews, not least from Moray Stuart In “Blues In Britain”. This promises to be a special gig, very much in keeping with the exceptional quality recruited by Johnny’s Blues Club.
Liverpool Marina is situated at Coburg Wharf, Sefton Street, Liverpool L3 4BP.
Tickets for the concert (£11 each in advance, £12 on the door) are obtainable from John Welsh on 0151-428 2855 or from www.johnnysbluesclub.co.uk. Please also visit www.bluesinthenorthwest.com for a fund of information on the region’s excellent blues scene.
